Christendom College will begin its new academic year on August 21, 2012, welcoming 123 new students to its Front Royal, Va., campus, to make a total student enrollment of 389.
According to the College’s Admissions Office, it was one of the best recruiting years in recent history, beating its goals by almost 18%.
“I think a lot of our hard work over the years is starting to finally pay off,” says Admissions Director Tom McFadden. “In recent years, we have been focusing on informing potential students about all of the unique aspects of a Christendom College education, making sure they are aware of just how important a Catholic liberal arts education can be in today’s marketplace. It’s refreshing to see so many eager, young men and women come to our campus so that they can become tomorrow’s leaders in society.”
The 105 students in the freshman class come from 33 different U.S. States, as well as from Ireland, England, Canada, and Greece. Fourteen are children of alumni, while 50 are siblings of either current students or alumni. Their average SAT score of 1820 is well-above the national average of 1500.
On September 14, the College will celebrate its 35th Anniversary with an academic convocation, followed by a festive anniversary dance on campus. The convocation will feature Rev. Wojciech Giertych, the Theologian of the Papal Household, who will deliver an address and will be awarded an Honoarary Doctorate. On April 6, 2013, the College will host its 35th Anniversary Gala Dinner Dance at the Westfields in Chantilly, Va.
