This week, Christendom College once again appeared as a recommended college in the latest edition of The Newman Guide to Choosing a Catholic College, a free online resource for parents and students seeking a faithful Catholic education. This comprehensive guide distinguishes 28 Catholic colleges and universities from across the world based on the strength of their Catholic identity.
“Christendom College is one of the foremost institutions carrying the banner in the renewal of Catholic higher education,” said Patrick J. Reilly, President of The Cardinal Newman Society. “Our Newman Guide to Choosing a Catholic College wouldn’t be complete without it.”
“It is an honor to be in this guide once again,” Christendom College’s Director of Admissions Tom McFadden said. “The Guide is a list of the best Catholic schools in the nation—schools that teach the Truth. Catholic families will be able to discover what Christendom is all about and hopefully will be encouraged to visit and discover for themselves our dynamic academic experience and our vibrant campus life.”
The Guide is now published in full-color and features a complete profile on every college in which it examines academics, governance, spiritual life, student activities, and residence life.
“The two words that best describe Christendom College are Catholic and traditional, in the very best sense of both words,” the Guide states. “For more than 35 years, [the] College has made a vital contribution to American Catholic life through its solid spiritual formation and its liberal arts curriculum. What was once a tiny holdout against the decline of higher education is today a model for Catholic liberal arts colleges, with a well-deserved reputation even in Rome.”
This edition’s profiles have been completely updated after extensive campus visits and/or interviews with faculty, staff, administrators, students, and alumni. The online versions of the college profiles include additional campus pictures and videos, open house and other event details, as well as contact information for college admissions or financial aid staff.
“It’s not enough that our Catholic sons and daughters survive college with their faith intact,” said Reilly. “Catholic college graduates should be wise, pure, and ready to serve with distinction in any career and vocation. The colleges and universities in The Newman Guide provide this preparation for life.”
