Today the college celebrated the Feast of the Dedication of Christ the King Chapel with a solemn Mass. Celebrating 18 years, the chapel was filled with students and faculty giving thanks to the generous donors who provided what the college community considers “the heart” of the campus.
The late Jan Cardinal Schotte, Pope John Paul the Great’s Secretary General to the World Synod of Bishops, dedicated the chapel on April 8, 1995. Over 500 people attended the ceremony at which Cardinal Schotte presented College President Dr. Timothy O’Donnell with a gift from Pope John Paul, a chalice and paten, of which the pope said, “I know what they are doing there. Take these to them, so that I may be with them in this way.”
The chalice and paten were used at today’s celebration of the Mass.
