College Professors to Deliver Lectures at Institute of Catholic Culture

Christendom College history professor Dr. Brendan McGuire and philosophy professor Dr. John Cuddeback will be delivering two lecture series in the Northern Virginia area this month at the Institute of Catholic Culture. McGuire’s series is entitled, “Fall of Constantinople & the Rise of the Ottoman Turks,” and Cuddeback’s is entitled, “Piercing the Darkness: An Introduction to Aquinas' Summa Theologica.” McGuire’s lecture series will be held on two Sundays, May 18 and 25, at 7:30 p.m. in Our Lady of Hope…

Catholic News Service interviewed Christendom College theology professor Eric Jenislawski in a special segment on the tradition of chapel veil wearing. Also appearing in the news was alumna Sister Miriam Esther (Lorraine Podlinsek, '05) and the members of her order, the Benedictine Sisters of Mary. Christendom College President Dr. Timothy O'Donnell will deliver the keynote address at the 2014 Institute on Religious Life’s (IRL) National Meeting being held April 25-27 in Chicago, Ill. O’Donnell, whose talk is entitled “Building the Civilization of Love through the Sacred Heart,” will also emcee the entire event. This summer, Christendom College will hold its second annual St. Columcille Institute, a program in Ireland featuring classes in Catholic theology, history, and literature. The students of Christendom College will celebrate the canonizations of Popes John Paul II and John XXIII with a series of events being held from April 22-28. On April 12, Christendom College officially opened its new Crusader Athletic Fields with a blessing by college chaplain Fr. Donald Planty, followed by the first annual Shield Rugby Match against Franciscan University of Steubenville. Rugby Team to Face Franciscan University on New Field

The Christendom College rugby team will play the Franciscan University of Steubenville Barons on Saturday, April 12 at 2 p.m.  Prior to the start of the inaugural match on the new Crusader Fields, there will be an opening prayer and field blessing at 1:45 p.m. The college began development of the Crusader Fields last summer.
