Christendom College’s admissions team will soon be moving to a new location on campus: an admissions office suite, overlooking the Shenandoah River. Built as an expansion to Regina Coeli Hall, the college’s main administrative building, the new office suite will bring much needed space to the department, and will allow for a more central location for all visitors to the college as well. The construction, slated to begin soon, should be complete during the summer months.
The admissions office is currently located in Regina Coeli Hall, but lacks the room necessary to properly meet with students, store materials, and hold team meetings. With a staff size of four, plus a number of student workers, the current space is proving to be limiting, making the construction of the new suite a necessity. When the construction is finished, the office will be located in the back of Regina Coeli, with windows looking out toward the Shenandoah River and the beautiful scenery surrounding it – including college founder Dr. Warren Carroll’s gravesite.
“The plan is to ‘fill in’ the current back patio of the building which will allow for the building of 4 offices,” says Sam Phillips, Christendom’s director of admissions. “We will be able to better utilize the Chester-Belloc room as well, allowing visitors to feel more welcome in a more spacious environment. We are looking forward to the upgrade!”
Once construction begins, the admissions office suite will become the latest in a series of new building initiatives on campus. The new St. Kevin’s business office recently opened in January on the east side of campus near the Crusader athletic fields, with construction recently beginning on a new faculty office in Madonna Hall.
Breaking ground on the admissions office suite continues Christendom’s recent expansion projects, which include plans for constructing a new commons building on campus which will feature a permanent dining hall and new classrooms for students, with an expansion of Christ the King chapel expected in the future as well.
