Pam Stenzel Encourages Christendom Students to Defend Culture of Life

October 8, 2015

stenzel-talk-1Internationally recognized speaker Pam Stenzel delivered a public lecture titled “Chastity: The Foundation for Building Strong Families and a Culture of Life” at Christendom College on October 5. Tearing through society’s critical views of pregnancy and abstinence before marriage, Stenzel encouraged the student body to become the leaders who can reverse this culture of death and bring about a new culture of life.

“Are you going to listen to the culture and just ignore abstinence before marriage? This is not a culture of faithfulness — sexual discipline and integrity is learned, and it is not learned after you walk the aisle, but before,” said Stenzel. “This matters. In a culture that says this doesn’t matter, the end result of sex without boundaries is disease, infertility, broken marriages, infidelity, and the death of literally millions in the womb. This day, choose who you will serve.”

Stenzel, who is regarded as one of the country’s most-established lecturers on chastity, spoke with candor and insight about today’s culture and its rejection of Catholic teachings on abstinence before marriage. To begin her talk, Stenzel explained the problems inherent in today’s political perception of chastity, revealing the negative view that pervades the current presidential administration.

“According to the [Department of Heath and Human Services], if you are not going to teach about birth control, condoms, and abortion in your teachings, then you will not get a drop of government money. What you teach your children in your home is your own business, but what you do with tax payer money will require you to teach these things…this is what we’re fighting against,” said Stenzel.

Outside of the boundary of marriage, sexual intimacy can lead to many problems for the culture of life, including contraception and abortion, according to Stenzel. Every human being has value, however, which is why sexual relations have to remain within the sacrament it was created for — this is its intention.

“If your relationship between you and Jesus is right, all of your relationships will be right as well. I hope you will give this message — it is so important that our culture sees and hears this, because if we’re going to produce families and generations of people that will respect life it begins right here, at this level, today. I believe out of this room will come the people who can change this world — I believe this is the place that is going to do it. This generation is the last one that has a shot at changing our culture, and the evil one knows this…you must rely on Christ, not just talk about holiness but also truly live it…if you do that, you will change the world,” concluded Stenzel.

Stenzel is the founder of Enlighten Communications, Inc., and is the author of the internationally used public school curricula “Abstinence by Choice” and “Building Healthy Relationships.” Winner of multiple awards for her videos on chastity, Stenzel speaks to over 500,000 people every year, and is a frequent guest on Fox News and ABC.

This lecture was part of the college’s Major Speaker’s Program, an important aspect of the academic life at the college that offers the students and community an opportunity for cultural, intellectual, and spiritual enrichment beyond the classroom. Through the program, students are able to gain greater insights and depth of understanding of important issues, and to interact personally with a wide range of men and women who are shapers and critics of our society.
