Christendom’s hard-hitting rugby squad will travel north this weekend to compete in the 13th annual Four Leaf 15s Tournament in New York City. Facing off against Cornell University, King’s Point College, and others on Saturday, March 19, the Crusaders will play on Randall’s Island beginning at 9:10 a.m.
The Crusaders are familiar with Randall’s Island, after capturing the men’s collegiate plate there in 2014, during the New York 7s Tournament. They will look for further victories on Saturday, competing first in Pool C against Cornell, King’s Point, and William Paterson University. If they move forward in the tournament, the Crusaders have the possibility of playing Loyola University, University of Hartford, and American University as well.
The Crusaders will enter the tournament will a current record of 6-3, after a dominant comeback win against #12 Duke University before spring break. After this weekend, the Crusaders will next compete in the Cherry Blossom Tournament in Washington, D.C., followed by the Jeff Hewitt Memorial Tournament in Pittsburgh, which Christendom won last year without conceding a single point in three games. At home, Christendom will host the University of Richmond and the Franciscan University of Steubenville, the latter for the annual Shield Rugby Match.
