Christendom’s Career and Leadership Development Office will host the first annual Crusader Career Day on November 12, in Christendom’s St. John the Evangelist Library. Beginning at 1:30 p.m., the event will bring twenty-five successful alumni back to campus for panels on law, nursing, journalism, finance, and more, providing students with the opportunity to learn more about potential career paths and gain valuable networking time with graduates of the college.
“The sheer amount of career paths available to Christendom students is staggering. We’ve seen our graduates go on to become CEOs, doctors, lawyers, teachers, and entrepreneurs, proving that our rigorous liberal arts education is an asset in every field,” says director of career and leadership development Colleen Harmon.
“We’re delighted to welcome many successful alumni back to campus for a day of mentoring and networking, and I hope that students will take full advantage of this incredible opportunity,” says Harmon.
The day will begin in St. John the Evangelist Library with a keynote address, before alumni begin leading panels on editing/writing, law, medical, business, education, small business/trades, IT, media/journalism, finance, and politics/government. Each of these panels, which last for thirty minutes, will provide students with the opportunity to hear about how alumni discovered their vocations and found success in them, as well as the chance to ask questions of the alumni.
While the panels are being conducted, students will be able to have professional LinkedIn photos taken by college staff, giving them an extra edge for potential employers when applying to jobs.
Following the end of the panels at 5:00 p.m., everyone is invited to an alumni and student networking reception in St. Kilian’s Café beginning at 6:30 p.m., where they will be able to talk more with the visiting alumni, and gain further tips as they prepare for their future careers.
