Christendom College president Dr. Timothy O’Donnell will offer a fitting prelude to the Advent season for residents of Northern Virginia next Sunday, with an exclusive talk on a topic near to O’Donnell’s heart: Christ the King. Sponsored by the Institute of Catholic Culture, the talk will be given at St. Veronica Church Hall in Chantilly, Va., beginning at 6:00 p.m.
O’Donnell, who was the first layman to receive both his licentiate and doctoral degrees in ascetical and mystical theology from the Angelicum, has taught students about the kingship of Christ and its place in history every year since his arrival at Christendom. His talk, which will fittingly be delivered on the Feast of Christ the King, will delve into the topic of Christ’s kingship, its history in the Church, and its importance to the world in the 21st century.
A nationally recognized speaker, O’Donnell has been president of Christendom College since 1992, where he also teaches courses in history and theology. He is a Knight Grand Cross in the Knights of the Holy Sepulchre and is a Consultor to the Pontifical Council for the Family, after being appointed to the position by Pope Saint John Paul II. Additionlly, O’Donnell is the author of Heart of the Redeemer and Swords Around the Cross: The Nine Years War. O’Donnell has been seen in living rooms around the United States and the world thanks to his programs on EWTN, which include “Glory of the Papacy” and “Rome’s Hidden Churches.”
St. Veronica Church Hall is located at 3460 Centreville Road, Chantilly, Va., 20151. Dinner is included with the talk, and no reservation is required.
