Christendom athletics continued its march toward the end of the fall sports season, with men’s rugby and women’s volleyball playing their final home games of the season, and women’s soccer playing their penultimate games at home.
Crusader rugby welcomed a revitalized Northern Virginia Griffins team back to campus after defeating them last season. Now a Division 2 team, the Griffins defeated Christendom 61-29, clinching the CCRC North division in the process. Despite a loss, the Crusaders still clinched the top seed in the NSCRO Champions Cup, and will play in Roanoke, Virginia, on November 4.
Lady Crusader volleyball finished their final home stand of the season with style, defeating rival Washington Adventist 3-0 in straight sets. Michaela Pennefather and Celina Albisu continued their strong 2017 campaigns, finishing the match with 14.5 and 12 points respectively. Traveling this past weekend, the Lady Crusaders finished their season with a 3-1 win over Appalachian Bible College and a 0-3 loss against Bluefield College.
On the soccer field, the Lady Crusaders played two of their final three home games, defeating Trinity University 4-0 and Central Penn 6-2. Gemma Youngman, Anna Solitario, and Emily Weichert helped lead the way in both games, with Youngman scoring 4 goals total. The Lady Crusaders played their final home game on October 30, losing 9-0 to Southern Virginia University before traveling to Central Penn for their final game of the season on November 1.
The men’s soccer team will also end their season at Central Penn on November 1, looking to end a three-game skid and end the season on a high note.
