The Crusaders fought hard through injury to take 3rd Place in the NSCRO Mid-Atlantic Cup on December 2-3, defeating host Elon University in their final rugby match of the Fall of 2017 season.
The Crusaders entered the weekend as one of the 32 teams in the hunt for the NSCRO 15s National Championship, after earning their first 15s berth last month. Traveling to Elon, North Carolina, they played their first match of the weekend against Loyola University Maryland, one of the favorites of the NSCRO playoff hunt. The Crusaders gave their all, with many players sustaining injuries, but ended up coming short 38-52.
The loss took them out of the National Championship hunt, but the Crusaders refused to end the weekend without a victory. They took on Elon University, the hosts of the Mid-Atlantic Cup, and handily defeated them 41-17 to earn 3rd Place.
The Crusaders end their fall season with a 5-3-1 record, and the 2017 CCRC NSCRO Champions Cup. To keep up to date with their spring competition schedule, please visit chrsitendomathetics.com.
