Three Christendom alumni will be ordained to the diaconate over the next month: Br. John Mark Solitario, O.P., John Killackey, and Steven Wood. For the three of them, this is their final step before becoming priests in the coming year.
Solitario (’11) just made his solemn profession of vows last month with the Dominican Friars of the Province of St. Joseph. On March 10, he will take his next step toward the priesthood when he is ordained a deacon.
Killackey (’11), a classmate of Solitario, has been a seminarian with the Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter since 2012. After teaching for two years, Killackey followed in the footsteps of many other Christendom alumni and began studying at the Fraternity’s seminary in Nebraska. He will be ordained a deacon on March 17.
Regarded as one of the nicest people you will ever meet by many in the Christendom community, Wood (’13) will be ordained a deacon for the Diocese of Sacramento on April 7. Wood, who is studying at Mount Angel Seminary, was admitted to candidacy last fall, making his final commitment to complete his seminary formation and pursue the priesthood.
These three men are part of a rich history of alumni who have joined the religious life after graduating from Christendom, including 83 priests, 54 sisters, 5 brothers, 2 transitional deacons, 1 permanent deacon, and 28 men currently studying for the priesthood.
