Christendom’s rugby team will travel to nearby Washington, D.C., to compete against some of the best teams in the nation in the annual Cherry Blossom Rugby Tournament. Held on April 7-8 at Rosecroft Raceway, the Crusaders will play against Virginia Tech, Salisbury Gold, and others in their pursuit of their first-ever Cherry Blossom trophy.
The Crusaders, fresh off their sweeping victory at the Frassati Invitational, will come to the tournament hungry to win. Last year, the Crusaders stunned the competition by making their way all the way to the final, falling only to the Ohio State Buckeyes. This year, they want the trophy, and will give their all in pursuit of that goal.
Christendom will begin its journey towards the trophy at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, playing first against Salisbury Gold. Following that first match, they will take on Virginia Tech at 9:20 a.m. and Towson at 11:20 a.m. All three teams are DIAA, making Saturday a day of stiff competition for the Crusaders. If they make it through their opening matches, they will earn a berth to the rounds on Sunday, where they will have the chance to compete against the University of Maryland, Georgetown, and others.
The Crusaders, who are currently ranked #14 in the nation, had a 5-3-1 record in their fall 15s season, including capturing the 2017 CCRC NSCRO Champions Cup.
