The Christendom College Players will perform the Tony Award-winning baseball musical, “Damn Yankees,” during April 20-22. A modern, comedic retelling of the Faust legend, the production will be presented at E. Wilson Morrison Elementary School in Front Royal, Va.
Winner of the 1956 Tony Award for Best Musical, “Damn Yankees” is set during the 1950 in Washington, D.C., during a time when the New York Yankees dominated Major League Baseball. A long-suffering fan of the Washington Senators makes a deal with the devil to give up his life to be a star player on the team, but then must choose between the life he’s chosen and the wife he’s left behind.
Directed by alumnus Stephen Hyland, a veteran of the Christendom Players, and produced by English language and literature professor Dr. Patrick Keats, who has been involved with Christendom theatrical productions for over twenty years, “Damn Yankees” will be performed at 7:00 p.m. on April 20, 21, and 22. Admission is $8 per adult and $5 for Christendom College students.
Tickets may be purchased at the door, but they can also be reserved beforehand by calling 540-636-2900 ext. 1390 or 1327
