In addition to the required courses, six credits of electives must be earned to total 42 graduate credits for the MA degree. Students may opt to write a master’s thesis in place of the two elective courses. A reading of knowledge of Latin is required for the systematic theology concentration MA, but not for the catechetics concentration MA. Distance students normally fulfill this requirement by taking a competency exam after learning Latin in their local area. Students without a strong background in theology must successfully complete the prerequisite course, THEO 590 Introduction to Theology, at the beginning of their program; this course does not earn graduate-level credit. Courses may be taken in any order.
