What
classes do you teach?
I have taught just about everything offered in the English curriculum,
with the exception of the classes in Old and Middle/Medieval English:
Literature of Western Civilization I, II & III
The English Novel
The American Novel
The Catholic Literary Revival
Foundations of American Literature
Modern British and American Literature
What is your favorite
class to teach?
Several! For the core, I especially enjoy English 101 and 202, enabling
me to catch the freshmen as they are entering the college and the sophomores
as they are completing the English core curriculum. Among upper level
classes, favorites would be English Novel, American Novel, and Survey
of American Literature.
Do you have any
hobbies? In sports, I love Golf, Tennis, and Speed-walking. I am a theater
and cinema buff, and especially enjoy reading up on the great directors,
film critics, and actors. I love classic films in particular. Recently,
I have become a co-founder/producer with Mirandum Pictures, an independent
film company.
What do you like
most about Christendom? I especially love the cheerful inculcation of the life of prayer with
pursuit of excellence in Academics and Extracurricular Activities. Christendom
works best when faculty, students, and staff pray together, work together,
and celebrate together in an atmosphere of charity and good humor.
What are your areas
of expertise and/or research?
Authors that especially
interest me would include Dickens, Chesterton, and Oscar Wilde, in addition
to authors as different as Jane Austen and Raymond Chandler, T.S. Eliot
and Bram Stoker.
Where have you
been published? I have written/published articles on Bernard Malamud, Robert Browning,
G.K. Chesteron, Mark Twain, and Oscar Wilde. Currently I am working on
a series of articles dealing with American Cinema (directors and actors).
What kind of professional
activities and associations are you active in?
The Chesterton Society
of North America, Mirandum Films, The Association of Literary Scholars
and Critics.
