Katie Gutschke
Admissions Counselor

Hello everyone and greetings from Christendom! My name is Katie Gutschke and I am an admissions counselor for Christendom College. I learned about Christendom through my older brother and sister who are alumni of Christendom. I also attended the Experience Christendom College Summer Program and fell in love with the school after experiencing it for myself! After the summer program the countdown was on—until high school graduation—because that meant I was soon off to Christendom. My freshman class was the biggest class in Christendom history and half of the incoming students had attended the summer program. So my class was made up of friends I had made at summer camp.

A little bit about where I am from. I grew up in a small town in northwest New Jersey, which is truly the most beautiful area in all of Jersey! There are dairy farms, corn fields, and green rolling hills all around. I do not have a Jersey accent and I will say that New Jersey has the best bagels and pizza of any other state!

There are so many highlights of my college years but 2 especially really stand out. The first is the the week long silent retreat I went on during fall break my sophomore year. It was such an amazing opportunity to spend a week in prayerful silence with a religious community. We attended mass, holy hour, liturgy of the hours, and conferences every day with the religious brothers and sisters. It was such a refreshing and truly revitalizing experience that helped me grow so much spiritually. The second highlight was my second semester junior year. I participated in Christendom's study abroad program and lived in Rome for 3 months! It definitely was one of the most amazing and incredible experiences of my life! Not only did I live in Rome but also I was able to travel to England, Ireland, France, and Poland. I was also lucky enough to be present at Blessed Pope John Paul's beatification. It was such an incredible feeling to be there with 2 million other Catholics for such a glorious event in the history of the Catholic Church.

Well, that's a little bit about myself. I hope to be hearing from you if you have any questions concerning Christendom. Also, if you are a prospective student and apply to Christendom I'll be processing your application and helping you through the admissions process. God Bless!
