Class notes

Nate FarinholtAlumnus Nate Farinholt was seen running (to the left) in some sort of Marathon, or maybe it was a 100 meter dash, but in any case, it's good to see him out and about, staying healthy and whatnot.

Alumna Caroline Pollock '03 just moved in with fellow alumna Alysha Cimprich in a certain ghetto of Annandale. Of course, sh just helped land a $900,000 donation for the Susan B. Anothy List Voter I.D. program. She has particularly been enjoying watching snow fall on plastic pink flamingos on her back porch.

MaryAnn (Hester) Gaffney '93 is expecting #5, baby that is, in July. So much for losing 65lbs. this past year! All her other kids are hoping for a boy but, she is just praying for a safe and healthy delivery.

Justin G. Smith '03 checked in this month. He wants to updates us all on his progress in law school thus far. He made straight A's and is third in his class. The process of applying for internships has begun, and life is pretty hectic. All that being said, OKLAHOMA IS BORING! He misses Christendom and all his friends!

Kathy O'Brien (87) is a nutritional consultant in the DC area. One of her main goals is to help people get back to the basic foods that humans have been eating before the advent of the overly processed, de-natured foods that were introduced to the diet beginning early last century. She works part time with a foundation which is teaching the work of a great nutrition researcher, Weston A. Price. Dr. Price was shocked to see the major changes in health that occured when primitive cultures introduced modern foods to their diet. You can get a free booklet describing his findings by calling 202.333.4325 and can visit their website at westonaprice.org. For our own health and the health of future generations this is invaluable information. (Kathy's work email is foodsheal@yahoo.com)

Tatiana and Matt Cameron '93 are gearing up to go on tour again. They have invited the young cellist who accompanied Tatiana in Virginia to join them as they travel up and down the west coast producing a concert series of their lenten program entitled "I Thirst - The Crucifixion Story". They have 14 concerts in Washington and 15 in Southern Californa. All of the concerts are free and an excellent way to foster lenten devotions as well as to encourage unchurched, fallen away Catholics or protestants to vist parishes. Their calander is available online at www.CameronProductions.org. They are also working out details for Tatiana to sing in Poland at their Youth Day for over 30,000 kids!

Fr. Tom Longua's (Class of '92) boys at St. Gregory's Academy in PA are looking to raise money for a trip to Rome. They juggle! If anyone needs jugglers, please drop Father a line at t2longua@juno.com

Johnny SowerAlumnus Johnny Sower '99-'03 (pictured on the right) was recently featured in a publication of the Old Town Alexandria Downtown Commerce Committee. He looks like he's serving up some good eats!

Karla Kuykendall '99 and Erica Quest '99 are going to Ireland on Feb. 5 for a few days. Slainte. Erin go Bragh. Guinness.

And speaking of Kuykendall, the latest on Kirk K. Kuykendall '90 is that he is engaged to be married sometime this summer in Dallas to a University of Dallas gal.

And speaking of marriage and Quests, alumna Deanna Quest '92 has agreed to wed alumnus Steve Daly '89-'90 sometime in the near future. Steve, of course, did ask Nick Warner '89-'9? for permission to marry.

Jensen and AnistonAlumnus Peter Jensen, of the world-famous celebrity sighting Jensens, has done it too. His sister Annmarie was recently seen with Bill Caddyshack Murray while his other sister Claire the Mountainbiker was pictured with Kiefer Young Gun Sutherland. Peter is going to graduate school in Florida, and while attending a certain college event, he happened to run into Jennifer Aniston, or Mrs. Pitt to you. I don't know how they do it, but that they do it is something to think about. I wonder who they meet next issue........

Recent, brand spanking new December alumna, Julie C. (it's an "e," not an "a") Abernethy '04, from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada is so very happy to be a member of the alumni ranks. And as all new alumni, she is discovering the many wonders of the real world. She has recently discovered the world of knitting. In fact, she is doing a toque and it's so beautiful (much like the Christendom choir). And she cooks, and cleans, and she does some sort of exercise, and looks for jobs. But in all reality she has so many things to do that she doesn't have time for a job. She does, though, have a job working at some marketing place, but she doesn't know exactly what it is yet. It's probably something like data entry fun or something like that. Ideally she'd like to find a decent job for now, and then find a good job starting in September. That way she'd be able to quit there in May, and go to Switzerland after graduation. So that's her incredible life plan. And we'll see how it goes. So if anyone wants to hire a Saskatoonie from Saskatchewan (remember Paul Kreuger '90? He was also from Saskatchewan, but from the metropolis of Regina) for September, just let her know. She wouldn't want anyone to miss out on having her as an employee.

Niall and the Pope

Niall O'Donnell '03 recently met the Pope in Rome (see pic above).

Steve Donahue and familyAnd left over from Christmas is the Steve Donahue '86-87 family from Texas. Standing in the back from left to right: Augustine(8), Dominick(13), Benedict(7), Nathaniel(10), Genevieve(6), Theodore(11), Bernadette(12) In front: Carolyn holding Maximilian(10 mo.), Cornelius(3), Stephen holding Marcellinus(2), and Jacinta(5).

Marc-Pierre Jansen '02, not of the famous celebrity sighting Jensen family, but of the West Virginia Jansen family, was recently spotted in the city during the March for Life. Although unemployed and somewhat distraught over his immediate employment (or lack of employment) predicament, he was seen buying people beer at the Times following the March. Thanks for the beer, MP! Hopefully, he will be gainfully employed come the next issue of the Grapevine.

Becky Birch Kunasz and familyAnd to the left is Mrs. Becky (Birch) Kunasz '90-'91 with her husband Markian and their children. They live in Nashville, TN.

Daniel J. Corey, the new December '03 alumnus formerly known as DJ, is now teaching with alumna Mary (McFadden) Brand '98 at The American School in Switzerland (TASIS)

Tom and Heather (Carlson) McGraw '93 are excited about moving into their new home at the end of this month. Yippie!

Maggie Doyle, daughter of Joe & Kate (O'Reilly) Doyle of Chicago finished an amazing 7th place in last weeks All Ireland (Irish dancing) competition out of 154 dancers invited from around the world.

Loretta (Hanley) Ferguson '98 wants to have corrected the grievous error that was made in the November Grapevine Online, which stated that she missed Mary (McFadden) Brand's wedding and only arrived in time for the reception. The facts of the case are that she did, in fact, attend the Nuptial Mass, even arriving 5 minutes early, and Jen Gordon '98 was present with her!. (Editor's response: Mea culpa)

Mary Eidem, Chloe Costello, and Laura EidemTed and Emily (Foushee) Eidem's daughters, Mary and Laura (who just turned one), had a nice visit with new friend Chloe Costello, the daughter of Greg and Emily (Dateno) Costello on Feb.1 (pic on the right)

Jeremiah and Jennifer (Knopf '97-00) Tutwiler are expecting Baby #2 this September and having a horrible time trying to pick out names!! Any suggestions are welcome (aidansmommy@adelphia.net)! (We're looking for something Celtic). [from the editor: Colleen, Niall, Hugh, Brigid, Dubh, Rory, Kieran, Connor, Declan...oh yeah that's the O'Donnell family! But others are of course, Niamh, Siobhan, Fergal, Sean, Cormac, Nora, Orla, Aidan, Finbar, Seamas, Angus, Oisin, Liam, Moira, Gale, Shakeara, Desmond, Fionn, Fiona, Saoirse, Breena, Clare, Doreen, Cara, Keara...and these are just some of the people's names whom I knew while growing up in Eire...TM).

Jim and Valerie (Kelly) Clark have some big news: Madelaine Sophie Renaud was born at 10:04 PM on January 26th. She weighed 11 1/2 lbs. and was 23 inches long. Gracie (age 1 1/2) loves her little sister and can't resist showering her with kisses!

March for Life 2004: Christendom Alumni are still Pro-Life, and many still like to hit the Irish Times/Dubliner afterwards!
