Dr. Kurt Poterack, Director of the Liturgical Music Program at Christendom, was selected to have his organ music presented at a Symposium on Catholic Sacred Music in Miami, Florida, on February 2, 2012.  The Symposium, entitled "Gregorian Chant and Modern Composition for the Catholic Liturgy: Charles Tournemire's L'Orgue Mystique as Guide," is sponsored by Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and the Church Music Association of America.

The conference will include scholarly lectures and organ recitals by musical academics from America and Europe and will conclude with a Pontifical High Mass in the Extraordinary Form celebrated by His Excellency Thomas G. Wenski, Archbishop of Miami.

Poterack, who earned his Ph.D. in Music Composition from Michigan State University, will present two of his works: "Eucharistic Suite" and "Meditations on the Glorious Mysteries of the Rosary."  Both of these works will be performed by Matthew Steynor, formerly of Queens' College, Oxford, and currently Director of Music at Trinity Cathedral in Miami.
