The students’ new residence will be the Domus Mariae, a beautiful facility with classrooms, a dining room, study halls, and a chapel dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary. Accompanied by Christendom chaplain Fr. Anthony Mastroeni and Dr. Douglas Flippen (Chairman of Christendom’s Philosophy department), students taking part in the “Semester in Rome” program will continue in the core curriculum with classes in philosophy, theology, and English literature. Italian Art and Architecture and language classes will round out their schedules. This upcoming fall, participating Juniors will depart from the US on September 19 and return on December 12. Upon arriving in Italy, the group will reside at Domus Pacis (www.venere.com/it/roma/domuspacis/index.html), a large 260 room hotel located only a few blocks from St. Peter’s, until November 22. Afterwards, the Christendom students will make Domus Mariae (www.venere.com/it/roma/domusmariae/index.html) their home until the end of the semester. The other half of the Juniors who will be traveling to Rome for the spring semester will depart on February 5 and return on April 29. They will stay at Domus Mariae for their entire stay. Both groups will enjoy a week long excursion to the beautiful city of Florence during their semester abroad. During the fall semester, students will take classes in Medieval Philosophy, Moral Theology, Literature III, Elementary Italian, and Art and Architecture. Courses for the spring semester will be the same except that Apologetics will replace Moral Theology. In order to participate
in the Rome Program, students must meet certain eligibility requirements.

Thirty
Christendom College Juniors will have a new college address this fall.
No longer will they study in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains
or by the beautiful and winding Shenandoah River. Come September 19, 2002,
half of Christendom’s Juniors will be studying just a few minutes
from St. Peter’s on the Via Aurelia, a quiet and reflective spot
surrounded by centuries-old trees and facing one of the oldest scenic
parks of Rome.
