In an attempt to be a strictly objective guide, U.S. News bases its rankings solely on collected data. Christendom's freshman retention rate (84%), alumni-giving rate (32%) and average SAT scores (1130-1330) are the highest in its tier. Many other criteria were used such as student/faculty ratios, acceptance rates, and peer assessment. "It's great to be featured in another top-notch college guide book," Director of Admissions Tom McFadden said. "I'm quite certain that next year many of our rankings will increase even more as a greater number of applications come in and Christendom's strong liberal arts program continues to flourish." Christendom College
and Thomas Aquinas College (Ca.) were the only Catholic colleges founded
within the last 35 years that were ranked in the report. Christendom appears
in numerous other national secular and religious guides each year including
Peterson's Competitive Colleges, Intercollegiate Studies Institute's
All-American Colleges and Choosing the Right College, Barron's
Best Buys, and many more.
