Help Us Honor Our Founders!
Show your appreciation for what Dr. Carroll and the other College founders did in founding Christendom College!
Christendom College founder, Dr. Warren H. Carroll, died on July 17, 2011. He was buried on the College's campus, behind the Regina Coeli Building (where he spent so much of his life) on July 24, 2011.
In the fall of 2012, a beautiful headstone was created for the College's late founder, and in the fall of 2103, the College hopes to complete the beautification of the Founders Graveyard. The hope is that other members of the founding faculty will also be buried in this graveyard someday.
Below is a picture of what it looked like on the day of the blessing of the headstone (Fall 2012):
And here is an artist's rendering of what it will look like this fall 2013 (it will actually be larger and will most likely have more stonework under the iron fencing):
In order for this to happen, the College hopes that its alumni, faculty, staff, students, benefactors, and friends of Christendom will come together and raise the needed funds to begin work on this project by the end of August. The hope is to dedicate and bless it at Homecoming Weekend on October 12.
Estimated cost of project:
- Stone/Masonry: $27,100
- Plus cross/plaque: $1,500
- Blasting rock $5,000 (estimate)
- Ornamental Ironworks: $1,700
- Granite Headstone/Monument: $5300
- ESTIMATED TOTAL: $40,600
