Applications are currently being reviewed for Christendom’s 2017 Padre Pio Full-Tuition Scholarship Competition, following a strong response to the college’s early action application deadline. The competition is expected to draw high interest again this year, as students compete for the opportunity to study at Christendom for only the cost of room and board.

“We had a great response to our early action deadline, and we were consistently impressed by the students who were applying. We’re pleased to offer the Padre Pio Full-Tuition Scholarship Competition to recognize the best of these students, and reward them for their efforts,” says director of admissions Sam Phillips.

“Christendom’s rigorous curriculum attracts some of the brightest students from across the country who are looking for a time-tested education that will truly challenge them, so each year there is stiff competition involved with this event. I encourage all eligible students who have yet to apply for the competition to do so now by January 15. If you missed the early action deadline but have qualifying scores, you still have the opportunity to apply for this competition, but you’ll first need to complete your general application by January 15 for a chance at being selected for our on-campus competition on February 27,” says Phillips.

The Padre Pio Full-Tuition Scholarship Competition is available to students with qualifying SAT, ACT, or CLT scores who have demonstrated a commitment to the pursuit of excellence throughout their high school career. Dozens of candidates apply for the competition each year, and eighteen applicants are then selected as finalists by our Scholarship Committee and are invited to come to campus for the competition.

In addition to this opportunity, Christendom is also offering two other avenues to students this year to help them study at Christendom at an affordable cost. The first is available to national merit scholarship finalists, with five full-tuition scholarships offered to those who apply to Christendom.

The second avenue is through a new program unique to Christendom: the Scholarship Price Match Program. Designed to match the bottom line cost to attend another institution of higher learning, the program helps remove other colleges’ academic scholarship and aid offers as an obstacle to attendance, helping students keep Christendom as their first choice for college.

“We do not want money to stand in the way of students and the best Catholic liberal arts education available. We recognize that college is an expensive and sacrificial venture, and we want to help deserving students attend Christendom at an affordable cost. These are three specific initiatives that help make that possible,” says director of admissions Sam Phillips.
