Christendom student-athletes Christine McLaughlin and Miranda Keller earned Player and Goalie of the Week honors respectively from the USCAA, as announced by the athletic organization this week. Both honors came for their performances in Christendom’s season-opener win against Hagerstown on August 28, with McLaughlin scoring a hat trick and Keller making 14 saves.
Christendom’s home-opener against Hagerstown was a hard-fought game, with Christendom and Hagerstown trading goals for the entirety of the first half before it stood at a 2-2 tie late into the game. With nine minutes remaining, McLaughlin scored her third goal of the game on her third shot — leading Christendom to its first win of the season.
Keller, one of this year’s Thomas S. Vander Woude Athletic Scholarship winners, made 14 saves in her first-ever collegiate game, proving to immediately be an invaluable addition to Christendom.
Christendom is next set to play Patrick Henry College on September 8 in their home opener on Crusader Fields.
