Christendom’s men’s and women’s basketball teams pulled off big wins over the weekend, with the men’s team edging out Bucks County in a 92-90 thriller and the women’s team grabbing victories over Trinity at home and Patrick Henry on the road.

Men’s Basketball

Following their tight contest against Central Penn earlier in the week, the men’s team looked to keep the momentum rolling against Bucks County at home on Saturday. The game was a grind from the jump, with each team trading baskets, coming up even at halftime.

That back-and-forth battle continued as both teams came out of the locker room for the second half — until Christendom was finally able to seize a late lead and hold it, ultimately winning 92-90 in a dramatic fight to the finish.

The win brought Christendom another game closer to the .500 as they continue playing their best basketball in this final stretch of the season. Bobby Vander Woude led the way for the team with 23 points while John Fowler added 18 and led the team in assists and rebounds with 7 and 10 a piece. Edmund Thomas contributed 14 while Luke Vander Woude put up 13 of his own in the win.

The team will next take on Patrick Henry at home for Senior Night on Wednesday, February 25.

Women’s Basketball

The women’s team closed out its regular season with two commanding performances as it awaits a potential berth in the national championship tournament.

The team started off the weekend with a home matchup against Trinity, building a commanding 38–17 halftime lead and cruising to a 90–46 victory.

Lucy Pennefather led the way with 33 points and 14 rebounds, while her sister, Mary, recorded a triple-double with 22 points, 15 assists, and 19 rebounds. Myri Parsons also grabbed 13 points in the win.

On Friday, the team traveled to Patrick Henry and again took early control, leading 31–19 at halftime before securing a 56–32 victory.

Lucy Pennefather again led the team in points with 19, while Mary dropped 17 in the win.

The team, standing at 10-6 on the season, now wait to learn if they will receive a national championship tournament invitation as it seeks a third consecutive national title.
