His selection to the council recognizes his excellence in teaching, mentorship, and his commitment to strengthening Catholic education.

The Sophia Master Teacher Council brings together outstanding educators recognized for their instructional excellence, student success, and ability to mentor fellow teachers. As a member, Deacon Anthony will now serve as a leader and resource for Catholic educators across the country.

Deacon Anthony’s selection is the latest milestone in a career marked by a deep commitment to Catholic teaching and evangelization. In the spiritual work, Deacon Anthony builds on Christendom College President Emeritus Dr. Timothy O’Donnell’s acclaimed book Heart of the Redeemer, which provides a thorough presentation of devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Deacon Anthony uses that work as his jumping-off point, connecting devotion to the Sacred Heart to devotion to Divine Mercy, showing how these two devotions can “restore all things in Christ.”

In addition to his writing, Deacon Anthony has also made many appearances on radio shows, including Catholic Drive Time, Catholic Connection with Teresa Tomeo, and the SonRise Morning Show, and has been a special guest on EWTN’s The Church Universal. He is the spiritual director of the Legion of Mary, the world’s largest lay evangelization organization, as well as A Mom’s Peace, which helps accompany those experiencing miscarriages or stillbirths.

Deacon Anthony’s work reflects the mission of Christendom College to form lay apostles with the tools necessary to impact the culture for the better. This new appointment will enable him to contribute to the renewal of Catholic education in an even more profound way, truly fulfilling the college’s mission to “restore all things in Christ.”
