Christendom College welcomes new Associate Chaplain Fr. Joseph DeCaria, who will serve the college community alongside recently named Head Chaplain Fr. Joseph Rampino.
As associate chaplain, Fr. DeCaria will assist Fr. Rampino in overseeing the spiritual life of the Christendom community, celebrating daily Mass, hearing confessions, providing spiritual direction, and serving students, faculty, and staff through his priestly ministry.
Fr. DeCaria was ordained a priest for the Personal Ordinariate of the Chair of St. Peter this past June. The Ordinariate is a Catholic jurisdiction established by Pope Benedict XVI that allows former Anglicans to enter into full communion with the Catholic Church while preserving elements of their liturgical and spiritual heritage.
A longtime member of the St. Thomas More Ordinariate parish community in Toronto, Canada, Fr. DeCaria previously served as an organist and master of ceremonies before becoming a subdiaconal minister and, later, being ordained a deacon in 2022. He also formerly served with the Anglicanorum Coetibus Society.
Fr. DeCaria served at St. Vincent de Paul Church in Toronto as a deacon before his priestly ordination at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Walsingham in Houston, Texas, earlier this summer. His assignment at Christendom marks his first priestly assignment.
Please join the Christendom community in welcoming Fr. DeCaria and praying for him as he begins his priestly ministry on campus.
