Christendom College President George A. Harne, Ph.D., has released a new episode of the Christendom Conversations podcast, featuring a thoughtful discussion with professor and liturgical expert Christopher Carstens. Together, they explore the profound significance of the liturgy, how the laity can best participate as the Church teaches, and the path to authentic engagement with tradition.
During the conversation, Carstens also talks about the historical context of liturgical reform, the importance of beauty in worship, the ongoing Liturgical Renewal, and how Christendom College’s Institute for Liturgical Formation plays a crucial role in training those who are a large part of the renewal.
Christendom launched its Institute for Liturgical Formation last summer, which is designed to soundly educate and train those responsible for liturgical preparation and execution so that they can more effectively serve the Church’s mission to worship God.
Carstens is the co-founder of Christendom’s Institute for Liturgical Formation. The author of many books, including Principles of Sacred Liturgy: Forming a Sacramental Vision (Hillenbrand, 2020), A Devotional Journey into the Easter Mystery (Sophia 2020), andA Devotional Journey into the Mass (Sophia, 2017), Carstens is also the editor of the Adoremus Bulletin and one of the voices on the Becoming God podcast. He also currently serves as the director of the Office for Sacred Worship in the Diocese of La Crosse, Wisconsin.
This marks the twentieth episode of Christendom Conversations, following August’s episode with Dr. Matthew Post, in which Harne and Post explored the mission of Christendom College’s new Center for Public Policy, the challenges facing today’s political landscape, and how classical philosophy and Catholic theology provide a foundation for principled public leadership.
