Christendom College is committed to providing a safe and secure campus for its students, faculty, staff, and visitors. We are on a mission to ensure that everyone is able to enjoy our beautiful campus and all it offers. In pursuit of that goal, the College strives to protect the community by preparing for any emergency and keeping all parties including the campus community, parents, and local community informed of incidents on campus. Although our campus is among the safest places you can be, we want to be prepared to handle any emergency that may occur.

Campus Security Officer
Christendom College provides a Campus Security Officer (CSO) on campus 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. When the college hosts larger events (Homecoming, Graduation, etc.), the college may provide multiple CSOs per shift. The college’s uniformed CSOs are civilians contracted through a private firm. The firm has a track record of professionalism and high-quality service—training with current law enforcement in the area and in Northern Virginia. The CSOs have the means to address a violent threat, should one occur. All students, faculty, and staff are provided with the CSO’s number.
Emergency Preparedness
The CSO team and the college’s Emergency Operations Team train to address all foreseeable emergency situations throughout the year. The Emergency Operations Team creates comprehensive plans and trains with local law enforcement and emergency responders to test the plans through table-top exercises, a national best practice. The college also hosts local law enforcement and emergency responders for mass casualty incident training, which familiarizes authorities with campus buildings while also enhancing their knowledge and emergency response.

Emergency Notification System
Christendom College utilizes an emergency notification system that can alert all students via SMS, phone, email, and/or message beacons located throughout campus. The system is frequently used to communicate campus closures due to inclement weather.
