FROM THE CHESTERTON SCHOOLS NETWORK

“Nothing has impacted me as much as my experience at Christendom. Learning the Catholic faith, and, even more importantly, living it out day-by-day with friends and teachers, has been the anchor in my relationship with Christ. And now, as the Director of Curriculum and Instruction for the Chesterton Schools Network, I am able to help create school environments that provide the essence of my Christendom experience—a joyful encounter with Christ and the Church—to hundreds of high school students. There is no greater joy or privilege than watching someone fall in love with Christ. It happened to me at Christendom, and now I see it happen every day with high school students throughout the country and around the world.
ANDREW YOUNGBLOOD
DIRECTOR OF CURRICULUM AND INSTRUCTION FOR THE CHESTERTON SCHOOLS NETWORK, AND CHRISTENDOM GRADUATE ’93
“Going from the Chesterton program in high school to Christendom’s curriculum in college was like moving on to the next book in a series–the very interesting and exciting next book. The style and format of many of my classes were similar, so I was comfortable in the learning environment, but at Christendom I was able and encouraged to go deeper into what I was studying and explore new ideas which offered me the best kind of challenge…I was given the opportunity to grow as an individual while immersed in a community which sought to help me become the best version of myself, and where I could continue to study what I had only gotten a taste of in high school.”
GIANNA COFFEY
CLASS OF 2019, REGINA CHESTERTON ACADEMY, PHILADELPHIA, PA
“Not only has Christendom afforded me the opportunity to grow closer to the man I wish to be. Each aspect of the school has supported me unconditionally. Nowhere have I found a community so dedicated to its members’ success. I have met some of my favorite teachers, and very best friends at Christendom. Choosing to go to Christendom was one of the easiest decisions in my life, and at the end of my four years I’m proud to say I would make the same decision over again in a heartbeat.”
– Gabriel Fewkes, Class of 2019, Chesterton Academy of The Holy Family, Chicago, IL
“I chose Christendom because it is full of people who inspire me. In the past year, Christendom has built on my Chesterton education in ways I never could have imagined, and I hope to continue to dive into Christendom’s Catholic education.”
– Maureen Barrett, Class of 2021, Chesterton Academy of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Detroit, MI
“Christendom is in many ways a fulfillment of my Chesterton Academy education. It expands upon and delves deeper into works that I first saw at Chesterton Academy. Furthermore, it views all academic material in light of the truth revealed by the Church, which was a foundational part of my Chesterton Academy education. Christendom’s culture is founded on its mission to “restore all things in Christ”, which goes hand in hand with Chesterton’s Cultura Vitae. In order to truly have a culture of life, He who is the “Way, the Truth, and the Life” must be present in all things, and Christendom’s culture is a thriving example of this. From daily Mass to student interactions, I see how both Christendom’s mission statement and Chesterton’s Cultura Vitae are lived out on campus.”
– Michael Piersall, Class of 2022, Chesterton Academy of Rochester, NY
“Christendom’s Catholic Culture thrives; it seeks to change the world. As Catholics, all of us must strive to be saints. We are the religion of life because God Himself is Life. So, Chesterton’s Cultura Vitae (The Culture of Life) simply will fall in line with Christendom’s Catholic Culture, daring both to live and become saints. I chose Christendom as my college because when I visited during the BWE (Best Week Ever)summer program, I felt how tight-knitted the community was and everything simply felt normal. It was as if I was meant to be there, and that is not exaggerated.”
– Gabriel Ang, Class of 2022, Chesterton Academy of Our Lady of Guadalupe, MI
“Both Christendom’s Catholic Culture and Chesterton’s Cultura Vitae are centered around Christ, and both emphasize the joy we share with those in our community. The small size of both schools helps students form a close community. At both schools, I felt like an important member of the community, and not just a face in the crowd.”
– Monica Kumon, Class of 2021, Chesterton Academy of the Holy Family Chicago, IL
“Very few schools today understand the whole of reality and the joy and wonder that comes from discovering ‘how it all fits together.’ Christendom College is one of those places that gets it. Not content to merely meditate upon these great truths, Christendom students put them into action: rooting initiative, hard work, and a joie de vivre in the conviction that life is a precious gift and ours is a wonderful and beautiful world—which is but a prelude to an infinitely more wonderful and more beautiful world to come.”
– John M. Dejak, Headmaster, Chelsea Academy, Front Royal, VA; Christendom Parent; and Founding Headmaster of the Original Chesterton Academy, Minneapolis, MN
“I attended Christendom because I longed for a deep knowledge of philosophy and theology from a solidly Catholic perspective, and that is exactly what I got … in addition to so much else that was far beyond my expectations. Not only did it inspire a love of history in me for the first time but a sense that all knowledge, no matter the subject, is connected to the divine. On top of that, the Catholic culture was a foretaste of heaven, giving me some of the happiest moments of my life. Not only were the sacraments ever-present, but its social life was consistently fun, lively, inviting, rich, and still always Catholic! Everything I learned there I have tried to proliferate to my own students as an educator, and it has proven to work miracles. Going to Christendom was perhaps the best decision of my life. God Bless this college.”
– Julian Ahlquist, Chief Designer of the Humanities Curriculum of the Chesterton Schools Network, and Christendom Graduate ‘07
