The Liturgy of the Hours is the prayer of the Mystical Body of Christ. In it, we pray in unity with all the faithful, the clergy, the hierarchy, the Pope, as well as with the suffering and triumphant Church in heaven, and with its Head, Jesus Christ. It is mostly made up of the Psalms and includes many other readings from the Scriptures.
Diocesan priests and men and women religious pray the Liturgy of the Hours each day. Vatican II wanted the Liturgy of the Hours made available to the faithful. Our students come together four times a day to pray the Liturgy of the Hours. They pray Morning Prayer before the early Mass at 7:30 AM. They pray Evening Prayer during the Holy Hour at 6:00 PM. Twice a day Night Prayer is prayed; this is at 9 PM and midnight. Praying the Liturgy of the Hours is one of the ways in which the Christendom community expresses its holiness.
