The Christendom College Players will present the famous musical, Hello, Dolly!, on April 16-18 at the Warren County Skyline High School Auditorium in Front Royal, Virginia.

DollyHello, Dolly!, based on Thornton Wilder’s The Matchmaker, features music and lyrics by Jerry Herman. The play tells the story of a matchmaker named Dolly Levi who takes a trip to Yonkers, New York, to see the “well-known unmarried half-a-millionaire,” Horace Vandergelder. While there, she convinces him and a few friends to go to New York City. In New York, she goes on a matchmaking spree with his friends—saving Vandergelder for herself.

This will be the tenth collaboration of Director Mike Powell, a Christendom alumnus, and Producer Dr. Patrick Keats, a Christendom English professor.

“Mike Powell and I are delighted to be working together on Hello, Dolly!” Keats says. “It’s one of the most hilarious and uplifting Broadway musicals of all time.”

Student-Actor Cyrus Artz, a senior majoring in Political Science and Economics, is excited about the performance. “Hello, Dolly! is our biggest show yet,” he says, “and because of the hard work of our cast and directors, I believe we’re going to have something really special for our audience on opening night.”

Artz will be playing the role of Cornelius, one of Vandergelder’s clerks. Sophomore Meghan Kelly is Dolly and Senior Nathan Gniewek will play Vandergelder.

Showtimes will be Friday, April 16, at 8 p.m., Saturday, April 17, at 8 p.m., and Sunday, April 18, at 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. Ticket prices are $8 for adults, $5 for students, and $3 for children 12 and under.
