bishop-loverdeOn January 18, Arlington Bishop Paul S. Loverde will bless the radio tower and transmitter of Christendom College’s new Catholic radio station WXDM 90.3 FM. The Bishop will celebrate Mass at the College’s Christ the King Chapel and then process to the Crusader Gymnasium—the site of the station’s tower—for the blessing.

“We are very excited to have Bishop Loverde visit our campus for the blessing,” WXDM’s general manager Niall O’Donnell said. “The programming on the station fits perfectly with the motto of our diocese, ‘to encourage and teach,’ as well as the motto of our College, ‘to restore all things in Christ.’ It’s our hope that the station will be a powerful instrument for evangelization in the northern Shenandoah Valley.”

Steve Gajdosik, president of the Catholic Radio Association, will also be present for the Mass and blessing.

WXDM, which launched late last year, is the first Catholic radio station to broadcast from Virginia. The radio station is broadcasting the EWTN Global Catholic Radio Network, which provides an around-the-clock feed of authentic Catholic radio coverage. With a 190W-powered signal, the station covers the entire Front Royal area and reaches as far north as Winchester, Va., and as far south as Bentonville, Va.

Currently the station is broadcasting EWTN solely, but the college plans to incorporate some of its own programming over the coming years. Visit ewtn.com/radio for more information about the network and scheduled programming.
