rugbyThe Christendom College rugby team will play the Franciscan University of Steubenville Barons on Saturday, April 12 at 2 p.m.  Prior to the start of the inaugural match on the new Crusader Fields, there will be an opening prayer and field blessing at 1:45 p.m.

The college began development of the Crusader Fields last summer. After the College purchased new property to the east of the campus in the early months of 2013, the decision was made to move forward in developing part of the property into athletic fields. The fields will serve many needs for the students, including the long-awaited opportunity to have home soccer and rugby games on campus.

“The project has brought incredible excitement to all connected with Christendom,” Athletic Director Chris Vander Woude says. “Over the course of this year, the enthusiasm has grown as the talk of home games right on campus spread. The new fields will not only allow for the fun and high spirit of home games, but it will greatly enhance all aspects of the athletic and intramural program.”

Coming off a series of tough losses against the University of West Virginia and rugby-powerhouse Salisbury University last weekend in the National Cherry Blossom Tournament, the Crusaders are ready to claim a big win against the Barons.
