Meza, who is currently the director of Urgent Care and Occupational Health at Valley Health Hospital System, was named to the council to fill the remainder of another council member’s term in office. His stellar business background at Valley Health, along with his education, ultimately won him the spot on the council, against other candidates who have lived longer in Front Royal.
“[My background is] why Valley Health hired me. What I said to the town council was that I’d love to take what I’m doing for Valley Health and see how I can apply that to the Town of Front Royal,” said Meza, in an interview with The Warren Sentinel. “I realized, with my kids, I’m probably going to be here for a while, and I want a place that my kids are going to love to grow up in.”
After graduating from Christendom with his B.A. in political science and economics, Meza returned to live in Front Royal in 2010. For the past six years, he has worked for the Valley Health Hospital System, ensuring outpatient clinic growth, hiring quality physicians, keeping operations financially viable, and staying true to his values along the way.
“Christendom provided me with a solid foundation. It taught me not just what, but how, to think,” says Meza. “To this day, my Logic class with Dr. Cuddeback continues to influence how I negotiate contracts or distinguish between arguments made out of passion versus sound logic.”
Meza has already shown a sense of responsibility for the town he lives in, recently beginning his tenure as a member of the town’s Planning Commission last fall.
Now that he has been sworn into the council, Meza is working on improving the town of Front Royal.
