After the season opener, the Crusaders will play crosstown rival Lord Fairfax Community College on September 24, before traveling south to play the University of Richmond on October 1. Last season, Christendom defeated Richmond 99-15 in the most lopsided victory in school history.
To finish October, the Crusaders will play the College of William & Mary in Williamsburg on October 29, before concluding their fall season in the Cardinals Conference Tournament on November 5.
2016 will mark the first time that the Crusaders play a full fall season, after being welcomed into the NSCRO Cardinals Conference last fall. The Crusaders will return to play during the spring semester, as they seek out their first National Championship playoff berth.
The Christendom rugby program has quickly become one of the most successful athletic programs at the college in recent years, with the team defeating some of the nation’s biggest colleges, including Duke, Cornell University, James Madison University, and William & Mary. Last year, the Crusaders finished the season 20-5, while sweeping two tournaments and defending the Shield Trophy from the Franciscan University of Steubenville along the way.
