When the Crusaders hit the rugby pitch at 1:00 p.m., they will be starting their first, full fall season as members of the Cardinals Collegiate Rugby Conference, after their record-breaking 20-5 season last year. Nationally recognized Duke University, who the Crusaders defeated 31-10 on their home turf this past spring, is now the college’s conference rival, and will be traveling to Christendom for the first time this Saturday.
On the other side of campus, women’s volleyball will be playing in front of a home crowd for the first time this season, after starting their year with a five-game road trip. They will enter the tri-match with a record of 2-3, but also with a current two-game winning streak, after defeating Washington Adventist and Trinity University.
Crusader volleyball is playing with a more seasoned roster this year, under the continued leadership of coach Josh Petersen, after playing with a mostly freshmen squad last season. Last season, the team exceeded expectations with an 11-6 record — strong enough for the #11 best winning percentage in the nation. The team will look to top that record this year, with another month left in their season.
