America’s pastime returns to Christendom next week, with opening day double-headers scheduled for baseball and softball. The Lady Crusaders will hit the field first on Tuesday, taking on Trinity University, while the Crusaders will make their long-awaited return to the diamond on Friday against Central Penn. Both sets of games will be held at Front Royal’s Bing Crosby Stadium.

The 30-man baseball squad is eager to return to the diamond this spring.

The Crusaders will be playing their first baseball games after a three year hiatus, celebrating St. Patrick’s Day in a new way when they hit the field on Friday. The 18-man roster will compete under a new, three-man coaching staff, with all involved eager to leave their mark on Christendom’s expanding athletic department. Their first game will begin at 5:00 p.m., followed by a second at 7:00 p.m. The Crusaders will then hit the field again the following day at Bing Crosby, taking on Penn State Schuylkill at 1:00 and 3:00 p.m.

The softball team, coming off two consecutive winning seasons, is looking forward to keeping that streak alive.

Coming off a second consecutive winning season, the Lady Crusaders will enter their third year under a new head coach and with a 15-woman roster. The Lady Crusaders will aim to keep their winning season streak alive during their opening double-header, playing Trinity at 4:30 and 6:30 p.m. Following those games, the Lady Crusaders will play again on Saturday, also taking on Penn State Schuykill at 2:00 and 4:00 p.m.
