The religious life just got richer this past weekend, with alumnus John Adams taking his first steps into the religious life, joining St. Bernard Abbey as a postulant.

John “J.J.” Adams (left) joined St. Bernard Abbey as a postulant.

Adams, a 2017 Christendom graduate who served the school as student body vice president, is the first alumnus to join the Abbey, located in Cullman, Alabama. As a postulant, Adams will join the monks of the Abbey in their common life of prayer and work, and receive instruction about monastic life through classes. If he so desires, he can then request to become a novice and continue his journey.

Adams is the second member of his class to join the religious life over the past month, following in the footsteps of Clare Fletcher, who joined the Dominican Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist. Together, they raise the number of alumni religious vocations to 169, which includes eighty-two priests, fifty-three sisters, seven brothers, one permanent deacon, and twenty-four men currently in seminary.
