Christendom’s admissions office met and exceeded its enrollment goals this year, bringing the college’s total enrollment to a record-breaking 493 students – up 27% since 2012.  Coming off a very successful summer, where 288 high school students filled every available spot for the Experience Christendom Summer Program, the admission office expected to have an outstanding recruiting year – but not anywhere as good as it is turning out to be.

To date, the admissions office is experiencing a record level of applications for the fall, with over four times the number it had received this time last year.

Four times the number of applications submitted last year have already been received for the Fall of 2018.

These record numbers come with over forty-five days left before the college’s early action application deadline, a time that colleges typically receive the most applications during the year. That Christendom has already received a record amount of applications so early is staggering, and illustrative of the popularity of the college’s authentic Catholic liberal arts education.

“Students and families are increasingly aware of negative trends in our society and our workforce and they want something more from their education — something that will set them up for success in life, both personally and professionally,” says director of admissions Sam Phillips. “We’re excited by the number of applications we’ve already received, and look forward to receiving more applications from students who are passionate about our particular education and  mission.”

Among the students who have already applied, close to 80% of them attended the college’s Experience Christendom Summer Program — the nation’s most-popular, highly-ranked, and well-attended pre-college program of its kind that gives students a taste of life at Christendom. During the week on campus, students come to a deep understanding of the transformative power of the liberal arts and how, as John Henry Newman observed the student attains an intellectual prowess in which he can take up any career and thrive with competence, grace, versatility, and success. Unlike the non-liberally trained, the Catholic liberal arts student becomes equipped for a life of leadership and excellence.

Students are attracted to Christendom’s education and culture, which set them up for success in this life and the next.

As students and families engage in the college search, Christendom’s admissions department is helping to make Christendom more affordable than ever. The college’s Scholarship Price Match Program continues to be popular, with a revised scholarship and aid program, including a new level of scholarship for students, now available as well.

For high school seniors looking to visit campus, Christendom is now offering a special visit initiative where they can claim either a $100 check or a $500 scholarship to attend Christendom after their first visit to campus.

All of this comes as Christendom continues to celebrate its 40th anniversary with a multitude of events throughout the year, including the 40th Anniversary Gala at The Mayflower Hotel in Washington, D.C., on April 14, 2018, where Francis Cardinal Arinze will serve as Honorary Chairman and Senator and Mrs. Rick Santorum will act as Chairmen of the Dinner Committee. The college will then welcome Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas as commencement speaker at graduation a month later.
