The journey to the National Championship begins this weekend for the Crusader rugby team when they travel to Elon, North Carolina, to compete in the Mid-Atlantic Cup, facing off against Loyola University for a chance at the Cup and a trip to the quarterfinals next April.

Team co-captain Richard Blank busts through the defense in a game against University of Maryland Baltimore County earlier this season.

Christendom earned its first rugby 15s National Championship berth after winning the 2017 CCRC NSCRO Champions Cup earlier this month. The Crusaders charged through Duke University and Christopher Newport University for the prize, joining 31 other teams in the hunt for the ultimate prize in the process.

Christendom will face off against Loyola University this Saturday in the first match of the Mid-Atlantic Cup. If they win, they will play in the championship match on Sunday. Winning both matches advances them into the elite 8 who will compete in the spring.

The Crusaders are the reigning NSCRO 7s National Champions, after winning a thrilling overtime match in Philadelphia this past June.
