Alumnus Deacon Christopher Tipton ’12 will be ordained to the priesthood this coming month, becoming the 85th alumnus priest, and the 16th alumnus priest serving in the Diocese of Arlington.
Deacon Tipton, who double-majored in philosophy and theology, will be ordained by Bishop Michael Burbidge on June 9 at the Cathedral of St. Thomas More.
“It really is unbelievable the grace that God has given me through the people of Arlington, other seminarians and the liturgy,” said Deacon Tipton in an interview with the Arlington Catholic Herald. “Leading up to it, I am more and more certain that this is what God wants me to do with my life.”
Deacon Tipton is part of a rich history of alumni who have joined the religious life after graduating from Christendom, including 84 priests, 54 sisters, 5 brothers, 2 transitional deacons, 1 permanent deacon, and 28 men currently studying for the priesthood.
Twenty percent of those currently studying for the priesthood for the Diocese of Arlington are Christendom alumni, while 15 current Arlington priests call Christendom their alma mater (Fr.
