Alumnus Deacon Christopher Dayton (’10) will become the 84th alumnus to be ordained to the priesthood when he is ordained in the Diocese of Trenton, New Jersey, on June 2.
Deacon Dayton, who graduated with a bachelor’s in political science and economics, initially went into public service after graduation, filling roles on the staff of a state assemblyman. After 3 years of further discernment, Deacon Dayton began his studies for the priesthood at St. Mary’s Seminary and University, Baltimore, where he graduated with a bachelor’s in sacred theology and a master of divinity degree.
Deacon Dayton will be ordained by Bishop David O’Connell of the Diocese of Trenton at St. Mary of the Assumption Cathedral, during the 10:00 a.m. Mass.
In addition to Deacon Dayton’s ordination, alumnus Deacon Christopher Tipton will also be ordained a priest next Saturday in the Diocese of Arlington. Together, the two raise the total number of alumni priests to 85, expanding the college’s rich history of alumni who have joined the religious life after graduation.
