A Call to Greatness, Christendom College’s ambitious $40 million campaign is in its final stages, with only $1 million left to raise. The funds raised by the campaign will go toward building a new chapel, and bolstering the college’s endowment and annual funds to strengthen its financial aid offerings.
“As the completion of the Call to Greatness campaign approaches, we are distinctly reminded of God’s faithfulness,” says Christendom president Dr. Timothy O’Donnell. “For four decades, Christendom College has been a shining beacon of hope in our world. Thanks to many generous donors, the success of our campaign will ensure that the next generation of motivated young Catholics receives our life-changing education in the Truth. I know that with God’s help, we will soon declare victory.”
In celebration of the college’s 40th year, the $40 million campaign goal is the most ambitious financial campaign in its history. The successful completion of the campaign will allow Christendom to expand its impact by ensuring its financial stability through doubling its endowment, providing the resources for student financial assistance free from the federal government, and, most visibly with the construction of a new Christ the King Chapel, to give glory to God. Aiming to complete the campaign by early September, the college also hopes to break ground on the new Christ the King Chapel this fall.
The college has been blessed during its 40th anniversary year with many generous gifts in support of the new chapel. These gifts, including a recent $1 million anonymous gift, will help beautify the chapel by dedicating approximately 100 new or restored windows of sacred art that will leave a lasting legacy of donor generosity. The new chapel will include twelve new full-size aisle windows of various saints, including St. John Paul the Great and St. Mother Teresa. Eight of the current chapel’s windows will be restored and transferred to the new chapel. The chapel will also be encircled by sixty-eight exquisite clerestory windows with full-size images of different saints.
“Without the significant financial and spiritual support from our benefactors and friends, without their deep belief in Christendom and its mission, this campaign would not have reached this pivotal moment,” explains Paul Jalsevac, vice president for advancement. “It is extraordinary to witness so many people coming together to help Christendom continue to grow as the leader in Catholic liberal arts education. A sincere thank you for the continued support of our benefactors as we approach the finish line of our campaign.”
