Christendom College will welcome two new professors to the department of theology this fall: Dr. Owen Vyner and Professor Andrew Whitmore. Both will be teaching freshmen courses and more, enhancing the classroom, their department, and the rest of the college with their academic knowledge and experience during Christendom’s 40th academic year.
Dr. Owen Vyner comes to Christendom after teaching in Melbourne, Australia, at the John Paul II Institute for Marriage and Family. After earning his B.A. from the University of Western Australia, Dr. Vyner earned his Master’s in theology from the John Paul II Institute, his STL from the Liturgical Institute, and finally his Ph.D. from the John Paul II Institute. Dr. Vyner specializes in liturgical and sacramental theology, especially the sacrament of penance, along with theological anthropology. He will be teaching Fundamentals of Catholic Doctrine and Introduction to the Old Testament this fall.
Professor Andrew Whitmore will join Dr. Vyner in teaching Fundamentals of Catholic Doctrine this fall, along with Moral Theology. Whitmore earned his B.A. from Assumption College and his M.A. from the Catholic University of America. He is currently finishing his doctoral studies there, and will be defending his dissertation this fall. Whitmore specializes in Thomistic moral theology, in addition to Pope Saint John Paul II’s work on marriage and sexuality.
