Christendom will welcome hundreds of alumni back to its Front Royal, Virginia, campus for Homecoming Weekend, held this year from October 5-7. Featuring numerous events, such as class reunions, an expanded family fun day, a chance to reminisce with Dr. Ray O’Herron, and the 39th annual East vs. West football game, Homecoming Weekend is now open for registration through September 28.

This year’s Homecoming Weekend is open to all alumni, with special attention paid to the classes of 1988, 1998, and 2008, who are celebrating their 30, 20, and 10-year reunions, respectively.

The weekend will kick off on Friday, October 5, with the alumni vs. students basketball game in Crusader Gymnasium. Following the game, seniors, alumni, faculty, and staff will head to St. Kilian’s Café for a quodlibet — a “theology on tap” type of event where questions can be asked of a faculty panel. Quodlibets have proven to be a popular event on campus over the past few years, but this marks the first time that one will be held as a part of Homecoming. Following the quodlibet, a relaxed social will be held in Kilian’s.

On Saturday morning, the college will offer an expanded family fun day on East Campus, where families can mingle while watching men’s and women’s soccer matches, along with, for the first time, a Crusader rugby match. A moon bounce, pony rides, and face-painting will also be available for children, along with a rugby workshop for alumni children and teens.

Pony rides and more will be offered during the family fun day on Saturday, which also features varsity rugby and soccer games.

Founding faculty member Dr. Ray O’Herron retired from the college this past spring, but will return to campus to celebrate Homecoming with alumni this year. A special event called “Reminisce with Founder Dr. Ray O’Herron” will be held in Kilian’s Café in the afternoon, and he will be part of a special meet and greet at the Warren H. Carroll Alumni Reception later that evening, held in Crusader Gymnasium.

Class reunions will be held in St. John the Evangelist library on Saturday evening, and the student homecoming dance will be held in St. Lawrence Commons, featuring live music from Yesterday’s Swing Orchestra. Alumni are welcome at the dance.

Retired founding faculty member Dr. Ray O’Herron will return to celebrate Homecoming with alumni.

Mass will be celebrated in Christ the King Chapel on Sunday morning at 8:30 and 10:00 a.m., followed by the 39th annual East vs. West football game on Crusader Fields.

Registration is now open for homecoming, with a special early-bird discounts available until September 21 and registration ending on September 28. Limited on-campus babysitting is available for families at minimal charge as well. For more information and to register for Homecoming Weekend, please visit christendomalumni.com/homecoming.
