Christendom mourns the passing of chef Richard Taylor, who faithfully served the college community for over a decade. Taylor, who served as sous chef before moving to part-time status two years ago, passed away due to complications with his liver as well as pneumonia.
Taylor was hired during the tenure of Chef Ron Steckman, serving under him, Chef Dennis Paranzino, and Chef Donald Higby. Taylor was instrumental in transforming the food services at Christendom, assisting in the design of the marketplace setup that is now featured in the college’s St. Lawrence Commons. He also personally hosted Thanksgiving feasts for students who were unable to make it home for Thanksgiving during the academic year.
Taylor moved to part-time status in 2016 before the hire of Higby as executive chef but continued to serve the college until December of 2018. One of Taylor’s final meals for the college was the Thanksgiving meal, which he again provided for students who stayed on campus.

Taylor will be sorely missed by Christendom’s staff, faculty, students, and alumni.
May his soul, and all the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
