With summer now in full swing, many Christendom students are well into summer jobs and internships, earning valuable experiences that will assist them with their future success. One student, sophomore Aganze Nkere, is already earning praise from his employers at computer software company Blue Pillar, Inc., due to his research, organization, and quick learning skills.
Blue Pillar, located in Maryland, is a software company working to connect the energy sources that power the world. In his internship at the company, Nkere is taking on a variety of tasks, but primarily video production for the company.
“Without any prior knowledge of Adobe Premier Pro, the industry standard for video editing, Aganze fully learned the program and successfully edited the six videos like a pro and to the standards of previous Blue Pillar videos that were produced by local video firms,” said Christendom College alumnus Tom Ehart, director of marketing for Blue Pillar.
Nkere, armed with a strong work ethic, professionalism, and the critical thinking and research skills imparted to him by his Christendom liberal arts education, is excelling in his role. During his first week on the job, he researched the necessary lighting, teleprompter, microphone, and other technology necessary to setup high-end video shoots. Then, in his second, he organized and led the shooting of 6 corporate sales videos featuring Blue Pillar’s chief technology officer. As a result, he saved his company money, learned a variety of new skills, and made a name for himself — all within his first month of the internship.
“His first month has been an exceptional one, and his work and professionalism exemplary,” said Ehart, who has two children currently enrolled at Christendom.
Christendom students are awarded a variety of jobs and internships during the summer months. From positions at DC think tanks, to IT jobs, to video production internships, like Nkere’s, each role puts these students one step closer to post-college success.
