Soccer and Volleyball Seasons in Full Swing

September 5, 2019

Volleyball and Soccer are finally back! Team members returned to campus early in order to train for the upcoming seasons, so the anticipation has been building amongst players to be back on the court or on the field. With several home games on the horizon, the Christendom community is excited to rally behind the student athletes as their seasons get under way.

During the 2018 season, the women’s volleyball team took second place at the national championship. Inspired by this previous success, the Lady Crusader volleyball team is ready to play hard and work toward another successful season.

“It’s been quite an experience training with the team these past weeks,” says freshman Fiona Briggs, “and we are so excited to get the season rolling!”

The team has already had 3 away matches, but they are finally playing at home in the Crusader Gymnasium on Thursday, September 5th, where they will face off with Trinity University at 7pm. On Saturday, September 7th, the team has two more home matches scheduled. At 11am they will play Penn State Mont Alto, and at 2pm they will face Notre Dame of MD.

The men’s soccer team is also ready for the beginning of their season. The men’s team won 8 of the 13 games they played during in 2018 season, and in 2019 the team is hoping to win even more games. With many talented returning athletes, as well as 6 freshmen joining the team, they are excited to see the direction this team takes.  The men’s soccer team already has an away game under their belt, but on Friday, September 6th the men’s soccer team will face off with Berkeley College, NJ, on Crusader Fields at 4:30pm.

The women’s soccer team has already played an away game against Fredrick Community College, and they will be travelling again for a game against Trinity University on Thursday the 5th. Their first home game will be on Saturday, September 7th, at 1pm, against Sweetbriar College. During the 2018 season, the Lady Crusaders went 6-9. With 5 new freshmen on the roster, making up a quarter of the team, it should make for  a dynamic and exciting 2019 season.

Crusader games are free of charge and open to the public. Fans are highly encouraged to attend and show their Crusader pride.
