This weekend, the rugby team will travel to Raleigh, NC, to compete in the National Small College Rugby Organization (NSCRO) Mid-Atlantic South Regional Championship. If the Crusaders win, they will advance to the NSCRO National 15’s Championship, where they came in second place last season.

To make it to this point, the team had to win both their conference tournament and another qualifying match. In mid-November, the Crusaders were the champions of the Cardinal Conference Tournament for the third consecutive year, defeating Duke University 46-7, and Washington and Lee University 30-29. A week later, the Crusader rugby team reigned supreme at the Mid-South qualifier, defeating Lander University by a landslide 86-0.

Christendom will take on Susquehanna University at noon at Saturday. If they win, they will advance to the championship match and play the winner of Spring Hill vs. Loyola, vying for a spot in the national tournament.

No matter the outcome this weekend, the Christendom rugby team has had an outstanding season. Their record stands at 6-3, with some notable landslide winds, such as their triple digit 116-5 victory against Hampden-Sydney. The team has also continually held the number one spot on the weekly coaches’ poll for NSCRO this season.
